Owlcat Games has announced that it will embark on another Kickstarter campaign for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous after it found crowdfunding success with its debut project, Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
The campaign will begin on February 4, though the team has not yet revealed its length or funding target.
However, Owlcat is already starting to drum up interest by releasing some preliminary gameplay details, alongside a host of enemy concept art and environmental screenshots (available below).
The headline new gameplay feature of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous alters the kingdom-building aspect from the previous game to have players instead growing and managing an army as they fight to take back the lands claimed by demonic hordes.
Speaking on this new feature, creative director Alexander Mishulin said, “Players will have to carefully consider each decision they make as they lead the crusade. Recruiting and upgrading one’s armies, capturing and holding strategic points, and exploring ancient ruins to find powerful artifacts are just a few of the many activities that require one’s undivided attention. […] We listened to the feedback on the kingdom building and acted upon it to make the most captivating crusade experience possible.”
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was first announced in December last year. Its prequel, Pathfinder: Kingmaker launched in September 2018, after raising more than $900,000 from an initial funding goal of $500,000.
The games are based on the tabletop RPG of the same name, which Samantha Nelson recently reflected on playing across the last decade.
