Forspoken Gameplay Overview Trailer Shows Off Flashy Open-World Traversal

Forspoken Gameplay Overview Trailer Has 10 Minutes of Flashy Open-World Traversal

Square Enix has unleashed a 10-minute gameplay overview trailer for Forspoken that shows a much better look at protagonist Frey’s magical abilities and how she’ll use them to traverse a magical new world. Most Forspoken footage so far has shown sprawling open areas and flashy combat, but today’s trailer takes the time to show the people living in the fantastical land of Athia, where the game is set. Many of them live in Cipal, a safe haven that houses refugees who hope to escape the world’s dangers.

Where others see threats, Frey and her special abilities find canyons and abandoned villages to use as a playground. Alongside a variety of interesting movement options, players will be able to explore the world by reaching points of interest, defeating enemies, and collecting gear. If nothing else, the Forspoken gameplay overview trailer serves as yet another feast for the eyes as it showcases its impressive elemental combat. You can take a look at it for yourself below.

Today’s trailer is a beefy look at a game that still has months until it launches. Until Square Enix has more to share, you can look forward to getting your hands on Forspoken when it releases for PlayStation 5 and PC on January 24, 2023. An Xbox version will not arrive for at least two years after this initial launch.
