Gal Gadot Joins Cast of Disney’s Live-Action Snow White as Evil Queen

Gal Gadot is in final negotiations to play the Evil Queen in the live-action adaptation of the Disney film Snow White across Rachel Zegler.

There are many who would argue that Gal Gadot is the fairest woman in all the land. However, she’ll be second fiddle to Rachel Zegler soon as Gal Gadot has been cast as the Evil Queen (yes, that’s the character’s actual name) in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of its animated classic, Snow White. Zegler had already been cast in the film as the titular princess in the film, which is being directed by Marc Webb.

While negotiations are still ongoing, it appears that this is nearly a done deal for Gadot, who will be joining Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, and Emma Stone in adding some depth to classic Disney animated villains. The casting for the film has been a long haul, but Disney reportedly always wanted Gadot, who after exploding onto the scene in Wonder Woman is one of the hottest actors working right now. Gal Gadot was reportedly deeply interested in Snow White and the Evil Queen, but scheduling was an issue due to her crowded filming schedule. However, it all appears to have worked out, and now she’ll get to don the cowl and crown of a woman who has no name but Evil.

As with Disney’s other wildly successful live-action adaptations, the film is looking to add more to the story and characters. This one is a bit more special, however, given the 1938 Snow White was the animated film that basically created Disney’s stranglehold on the world of film animation. The studio has reportedly been extremely careful with this one, making sure that the music is right and tapping Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La LandThe Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen) to write it.
