Genshin Impact, Studio miHoYo, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, release date, PlayStation 4

Free-to-play adventure Genshin Impact has a worldwide Android, iOS, PC, and PlayStation 4 release date, set for next month. Studio miHoYo had confirmed the Sept. 28 date earlier this month for mobile and PC but waited until today to confirm that the PlayStation 4 version will also launch on the same day. In addition to today’s announcement, the developer revealed that PlayStation players are getting exclusive content in the form of in-game items the Sword of Descension and Wings of Descension, with other goodies coming in the future as well.

Even though the game is free to play, you can preorder Genshin Impact for $9.99 to receive access to the Adventurer’s Starter Bundle, which includes a number of different items to help get players started on their journey.

MiHoYo additionally published a behind-the-scenes video explaining more about Genshin Impact, as well as what steps have been taken to make sure the game is visually impressive.

Genshin Impact is coming to Nintendo Switch too, though miHoYo has yet to reveal a release date for that version of the game.

Genshin Impact was announced last year and takes place in the vibrant open world of Teyvat. It shares more than a few similarities with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the game will see players embark as the Traveler as they navigate a mysterious fantasy world and attempt to find their lost sibling.

The Escapist’s Marty Sliva previewed Genshin Impact last month, saying that while he has a few hang-ups, the Breath of the Wild-inspired game is still “bright and colorful” and “filled to the brim with interesting places to explore.”
