George R. R. Martin’s Game of Legos

All of your favorite characters from Game of Thrones now in convenient Lego form.

If you’re like me then you are still riding high on Game of Thrones fandom ever since the HBO show ended a few weeks ago. The adaptation’s 14 Emmy nominations, establishing Martin’s story as part of our cultural consciousness, proved that fantasy was not “boy fiction” despite what New York Times bloggers might say. I’m knee-deep in the fifth book in the series, released just last week after a delay of almost six years. Luckily, I not only have HBO’s adaptation to help me visualize the characters of Martin’s epic, Sam Beattie was kind enough to take pictures of his representations of the likes Jon Snow and Daenerys Stormborn using Lego dude parts.

Before you get your hopes up, no this isn’t a new set from Lego. All of the parts and pieces used for these figures were cobbled together from various sources to bring out the details of each character. The attention to detail is no surprise because Sam Beattie is a game designer, working for Blue Fang Games in the Boston area on mobile and social games – best known titles include Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Facebook games.

I especially like how Gregor Clegane is so much taller than everyone else and the chain around Grand Maester Pycelle’s neck. The Lannisters look pretty sweet as well, although i’m not sure why Cersei is so much taller than her whole family. I suppose you have to pick your battles when you’re using used parts …
