Get ready for a surprise! Total Recall is being made into an MMO.
Michael Ironside, Ronnie Cox and three fabulous boobs – you know what I’m talking about. It’s Total Recall, of course, the classic 1990 action flick that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger but that’s made awesome by Ironside, Cox, Sharon Stone in her prime and the most famous sci-fi tits in history, not to mention some insanely over-the-top violence. And now, believe it or not, it’s about to become an MMO.
Developed by SEE games and ZQGame, the browser-based Total Recall MMO will be free-to-play with microtransactions, PvP and PvE action, and a “collaborative memory quest system,” whatever that means.
“Total Recall is an international phenomenon; we know this well-known property will make a great 3D browser based game,” said Mark Caplan, vice president at Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. “Total Recall will offer fans of the franchise and gamers alike an engaging and authentic experience – one that will deliver everything that the fans expect and will dovetail perfectly with the upcoming film.”
Yes, sadly, the new game will apparently be based on the upcoming remake starring Colin Farrell and not the great Arnie film. Don’t feel bad if that squashes any interest you might have had in this game; the new movie doesn’t even have a Richter and how can you make a Total Recall film without “See you at the pahty, Richter?” It just doesn’t work.
The press release said nothing about a release date but the crappy new movie [and yes, I’ve already made up my mind on that] comes out on August 3, 2012, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it land around the same time. So keep your eyes peeled for it – and I’ll see you at the pahty!
