Sony has announced that Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 with a release date of Aug. 20, 2021. This new version of the game will feature fresh content and technical additions, the biggest one being the island of Iki, which is the neighboring island of Tsushima.
In this new chapter, Jin will explore the island and investigate rumors of a Mongol presence. This story content will have new characters, environments, armor, mini-games, and enemy types. The Director’s Cut will also have new trophies to unlock for the Iki content.
The PS5 version of the game will also have some exclusive features, such as Japanese lip sync, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D audio. Improved load times, 4K resolution options, and a targeted 60 FPS are all present too.
Players who already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 will be able to transfer their save file to Director’s Cut on PS5 to play the new Iki content, but there are multiple purchase paths in total:
- Original Ghost owners can upgrade to the PS4 version of the Director’s Cut for $19.99.
- Owners of the PS4 Director’s Cut can pay an additional $9.99 to upgrade to the PS5 version.
- Upgrading directly from the original PS4 Ghost of Tsushima game to the PS5 Director’s Cut will cost $29.99.
As a standalone purchase, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be $69.99 on PlayStation 5 and $59.99 on PlayStation 4.
