Illfonic, the developer behind the Friday the 13th video game and Predator: Hunting Grounds, has revealed Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed as its next asymmetrical multiplayer game. Spirits Unleashed is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC via the Epic Games Store in Q4 2022. In the game, players can either group up as four Ghostbuster trainees or haunt prisons, hotels, museums, and more as a single, spooky ghost.
The Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed trailer promises an experience that’s faithful to its source material. Besides iconic sounds, Proton Packs, and references, you’ll be given the chance to chat with Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz and Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore. Check it out below.
Ghost-busting trainees in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed are armed with a Proton Pack, Ghost Trap, and a PKE Meter to track and capture ghosts. As usual with Illfonic titles, players must work together to bring down the fearsome player on the other team. That player, the ghost, is tasked with scaring citizens and evading capture and can do so by summoning minions, sliming Ghostbusters, possessing objects, and engaging in other ghostly activities.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will support cross-platform play for anyone on PC and console. If games aren’t matched with enough players or if you’re looking for a solo experience, AI will fill the roles as needed. Stay tuned for more as we wait for the game to launch later this year.
