During Gearbox’s E3 presentation, the company and developer Counterplay Games announced that Godfall will be receiving its first DLC expansion called Fire & Darkness, plus a free Lightbringer update. The DLC expansion will launch on Aug. 10, 2021, alongside a new PlayStation 4 (PS4) version of Godfall.
The update will include an endgame matchmaking beta. More than 40 new loot items and 50 Valorplates can be collected. Those who purchase the PS4 version of Godfall are eligible for a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version. Additionally, the Fire & Darkness update is included in the Deluxe and Ascended versions of the game.
Godfall originally launched in November for PlayStation 5 and PC, so it’s a bit unheard of for a game to backtrack and release on a previous generation console like PS4 so long after the initial release date. Godfall also has a console exclusivity period of “at least” until May 2021. It’s uncertain whether it will come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S in the near future.
