Godzilla vs. Kong is seeing a release date change and will now premiere in theaters and HBO Max on March 26, 2021. The latest installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse was originally set to arrive on May 21.
Directed by Adam Wingard, Godzilla vs. Kong was first set to arrive in March 2020 as a follow-up to 2017’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The first delay in response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on moviegoers saw the movie pushed back to November 2020, then again to May 2021. With March only two months away, we can only hope that this latest date will stick.
Godzilla vs. Kong’s release date change follows Warner Bros.’ decision to premiere its entire 2021 slate of movies in both theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. The plan for a simultaneous release schedule is only in place for 2021 and includes films such as Dune, The Matrix 4, The Suicide Squad, and many others.
We’ve seen next to nothing of Godzilla vs. Kong despite the movie releasing in only a few months. Our best and most recent look came in the form of a brief video shown as part of CCXP late last year. It likely will not be long now before a full trailer is released.
