A handful of screenshots of THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive’s Gothic Remake have appeared on the project’s new Steam page. The game’s official Twitter account shared that the Steam page is live today to celebrate the original Gothic’s 20-year anniversary. Plus, as an added bonus, the account shared a look at the reimagined version of the first game’s Scavengers. See all of the latest visuals below.

Other than promising a drastic leap in visual quality, THQ Nordic and Alkimia’s remake seems to stay in line with the original game. Features of the Gothic Remake listed on the newly established Steam page include modernized combat that “takes the basic premises of the original combat system to the modern age.” The Gothic Remake is still without any sort of release window, so stay tuned for more updates.

The original Gothic launched in the early 2000s as an RPG created by developer Piranha Bytes. THQ Nordic announced that a remake project was entering full production last year after a playable teaser garnered the attention of interested fans. You can see footage of the teaser in the 2019 comparison video below, but you should note that it represents a product that was and is far from complete.
