Following the announcement of its sales results for the previous fiscal year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot predicted the console market will continue to be dominated by the Wii in 2008, while the Xbox 360 and PlayStation will divide the world between them in a battle for second place.

In an investor call following the fourth quarter results announcement, Guillemot said “the power of the (installed base) will continue to keep a good market share” for the Xbox 360 in North America, but that the PlayStation 3 “will grow faster than the 360” in Europe, according to Gamasutra. But he also added, “The Wii will be the number one console in Europe and the U.S.” for the year.

“We think the Wii will continue to grow,” he said. “What we (also) see is that the DS is doing extremely well… We have lots of new customers coming to the business.” Guillemot said his company was currently working on unannounced party games exclusively for the Wii, driven by “the new population coming to that machine.”
