Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Guns for an Emmy

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is up against the likes of Elementary and The Newsroom for Outstanding Title Design.

As the clock ticked down to Halo 4‘s release date, 343 Industries and Machinima released a five-part live action web series called Forward Unto Dawn to keep the hype train rolling. They did a pretty good job, too – as the nominations for the 2013 Emmy Awards came in, Forward Unto Dawn earned a place in the ring for Outstanding Main Title Design. The video game web series is competing against several big names from mainstream television on the virtue of its opening credits sequence.

The other nominees for Outstanding Main Title Design are American Horror Story: Asylum on FX, Da Vinci’s Demons on Starz, Elementary on CBS, The Newsroom on HBO, and Vikings on History. Given that line up, Forward Unto Dawn certainly stands out – the Emmys recognize excellence in television, so an online web series distributed by Machinima.com is an usual nomination. Major credit goes to German animation studio Polynoid, which worked on the intro sequences to the five episodes of the series.

If you haven’t seen Forward Unto Dawn you can check it out on YouTube whenever you’ve got an hour and a half to kill, or you can find it on Netflix and Blu-ray. The Emmy winners will be announced on September 22, so keep your fingers crossed for Master Chief until then.
