Another streaming service is here, though this one seems to be landing with far less fanfare due to the glut of options we now have. NBC’s Peacock had a limited launch on April 15, but it will be going wide soon and the streamer has dropped a host of trailers for its original content. These include a second Psych movie, yet another Saved by the Bell reboot/sequel, thriller The Capture, and a new Punky Brewster. Oh, and it’s now the streaming home of The Office.
Most of these new shows will not be around until 2021, due in part to the coronavirus. However, Peacock does have a massive library of content as well thanks to Comcast’s powerful licenses, Universal’s movie library, and the strength of NBC’s heritage content. That includes the insanely-popular-to-binge The Office, 30 Rock, and Parks and Recreation. Those shows alone have been major streaming winners, and Peacock has them all.
Peacock will have three levels of subscription, starting at a free, ad-supported service that features limited seasons of shows and other limitations on content. Then there is Peacock Premium, a $5-per-month subscription that gives you full access to all the content but still has ads. Finally, for $10 a month, you can get no ads. Comcast and Cox cable customers will have access to the ad-supported version of Peacock Premium for free and only have to pay $5 a month for the no-ad option.
Peacock will become widely available on July 15. Check out all the trailers below.
