There are 5 Grand Tomes you can unlock with collected pages in Yooka-Laylee, and each leads to a giant world that’s full of activities, collectibles, and exploration. Here we’ll break down how to reach each of the 5 Grand Tomes — what powers you’ll need, and where to travel in the hub world to find the tome.

It isn’t always completely easy, and sometimes Yooka-Laylee needs the right combination of powers to progress.

How to Open All 5 Grand Tome Levels

There are 5 Grand Tomes. Below, you’ll get instructions on how to reach each tome in order. Finding them all will unlock the “Open Books” achievement / trophy.

Tribalstack Tropics:

Go to the right from the statue and to the ramp near the Hivory Tower door to find a steep slope. Roll up the slope with Yooka-Laylee’s combo roll move to reach it.

Glitterglaze Glacier:

At the statue, jump onto the platforms on the back-left corner near the fire. Go up the catwalks to the slippery metal slope.

Roll up the ramps, then buddy-slam the switch to open the hexagon door. You’ll enter the Hivory Tower area — complete the quiz if this is your first time in the area!

Run down the hall until you spot some red / blue pipes and platforms. Hop up and talk to Trowzer to get a new buddy ability. He teaches you how to jump and float.

Jump across the long gap near Trowzer and follow the path around and left — it’s marked with snowy features. Fight through the enemies to find the tome.

Moodymaze Marsh:

Return to the long tunnel where Trowzer taught the glide ability and enter the Archive room on the opposite side of the hallway. It’s a large entrance with a big book!

Grab the nearby Ice Pellet plant to open the Archive door. Talk to Trowzer in the back-left corner to learn yet another move.

Drop into the giant aquarium in the center of the Archive room. Swim to the bottom of the second tank and create an air bubble so you can buddy slam the button.

Go through the secret library door that opens up to enter the Waterworks section. Jump into the water and create an air bubble to walk along the floor. Circle the central pipes to find a passage marked with a jack-o-lantern.

Enter the jack-o-lantern gate and swim up. Hop up the platforms to reach the third Grand Tome!

Capital Cashino:

Return to Waterworks with your new Grapple ability — you can purchase it from Trowzer in the previous world. Use it to jump onto the central turbine, then onto the catwalk to the left in the Moodymaze Marsh Gran Tome area.

To the left of the Grand Tome, there’s another grapple point. Continue to grapple up then drop down and enter the door to the left lined with pipes.

It leads back into Hivory Tower. Go straight ahead, over the catwalks and forward toward the purple neon sign pointing out Trowzer’s location.

Get your new ability from Trowzer, and turn invisible to sneak past the security camera hallway just past Trowzer. Go down and to the right to find a giant casino-themed platform under a tube.

Turn invisible and buddy slam the button under the tube to activate the door to the Grand Tome.

Galleon Galaxy:

The final Grand Tome can be accessed from the Capital Cashino Grand Tome. Go back up toward the main area of the Hivory Tower exterior and turn left past the security cameras.

Find Trowzer at the green glowing river to unlock the flight ability. Use it to fly through the narrow path filled with green neon sludge.

After crossing through the long passage of goo, look for a door on the left. The last tome is inside.
