IO Interactive is working on DLC for Hitman 3. Executive Producer Forest Swartout Large explained in an interview with The Gamer that post-launch content for the title is still taking shape, but it is coming at some point. IO says it’s not currently looking to bring new maps to Hitman 3 and is instead leaning more toward reimagining existing locations and missions from the entire World of Assassination trilogy for the DLC.
“We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is,” Large said. “I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank and the island. We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps – we have all the locations.”
Hitman 3 launched on Jan. 20 as the conclusion to IO’s World of Assassination trilogy. However, it doesn’t sound like the studio will be moving on from the bald assassin for good.
“We’re continuously working on Hitman so we are already looking to the future,” Large said.
The phrasing implies that the series will continue at some point, beyond Hitman 3 DLC. It should come as no surprise to hear that IO is willing to revisit the Hitman franchise later down the road, considering the studio recently reported that the game has already turned a profit.
The next IO Interactive game will be Project 007, its James Bond game. Though we’ve heard little about what kind of game it will be, a recent interview shed a bit of light on what to expect.
