Team Cherry took the stage at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 to finally give us more footage and information on Hollow Knight: Silksong, including the fact that it’s coming to Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass day one. Additionally, Microsoft confirmed during the show that every game featured in today’s showcase will be playable within the next 12 months. There is no Hollow Knight: Silksong release date yet, but it sounds like it’s on track to launch soon. The smorgasbord of Hollow Knight: Silksong footage comes after a long wait, so kick back, relax, and enjoy the trailer below.
The original Hollow Knight came to PC players as a bleak Metroidvania in 2017, eventually releasing on console platforms, too. Team Cherry then went on to announce Hollow Knight: Silksong as an official sequel a few years later. A sequel was inevitable, especially considering the success the first game saw. However, fans were nonetheless surprised, as this now-sequel had previously been announced as DLC for the first game before Team Cherry decided to pour its efforts into turning the project into something grander.
The indie studio quickly became tight-lipped as excitement festered, so much so that Hollow Knight: Silksong updates have been few and far between for years. The biggest announcement perhaps came as part of an issue of Edge, which, while nice, meant fans still had to wait to see more gameplay. The wait got even longer when Team Cherry revealed that it would be skipping out on E3 2021. Thankfully, we’ll finally get our hands on Hollow Knight: Silksong sometime soon.
