Horizon Zero Dawn will make the jump over to PC this year according to a new report. Kotaku says that “three people familiar with Sony’s plans” spoke anonymously to confirm that a port is on the way. They further expect to see the game come to both Steam and Epic Games Store, though this is not certain yet. With Kotaku’s track record, fans can safely prepare to see Horizon Zero Dawn’s cyborg dinosaurs on PC.
From a certain perspective, this is not the first title launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive to come to PC, as Death Stranding is also slated to come early summer 2020. Though, in that case, developer Kojima Productions is not Sony-owned (and the game was actually originally announced for PlayStation 4 and PC in the first place), while Sony does oversee Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games. Meanwhile, Microsoft has been pushing its first-party games to PC, too, with one of the most recent titles being Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Sony has been quiet regarding how it plans to incorporate PC into its PlayStation ecosystem, though this growing industry trend could signal a grander change.
Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PlayStation 4 back in early 2017. Since then, Guerrilla has mostly been quiet, with the most news coming out of the developer in the past year revolving around former studio lead Hermen Hulst taking over as Sony’s head of Worldwide Studios.
Still, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear that the developer has a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel in the works. In fact, some began to take notice of a job listing that alluded to as much a few months back.
