Horizon Zero Dawn on PC Confirmed, Sony Still Committed to Consoles

Horizon Zero Dawn PC Release

After two months of reports and online storefront listings, a Horizon Zero Dawn PC version has been confirmed. The news comes from a PlayStation.Blog interview with Hermen Hulst, formerly managing director of Guerrilla Games and now the head of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios. The port of the former PlayStation 4 exclusive is set to release this summer on PC, with more details to come “pretty soon.”

Hulst explained that this situation was unique as he felt that Guerrilla’s open-world action role-playing game was a “great fit” for PC gaming. As such, it won’t represent a massive departure in how they handle games going forward. This won’t be a move to equal how Microsoft supports both PC and Xbox, as Sony will take it on a case-by-case basis. “Releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC,” explained Hulst. “We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”

Developed by Killzone developer Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn received critical acclaim when it originally released on PC. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic future that has seen the fall and rebirth of civilization after the creation of dangerous mechanical creatures that now roam the world. Players take on the role of a young hunter named Aloy as she learns about the many mysteries of the world and her own past.
