Godzilla Minus One is the latest film to feature the titular kaiju in action, but it’ll only be available in theaters for a limited time, so here’s the answer to how long you have to see the movie.
When Does Godzilla Minus One Leave Theaters?
Currently, Godzilla Minus One is set to have a short stint in theaters. The movie had early fan access starting on Nov. 29 before officially premiering on Dec. 1 in the US. Just how long it will actually be in theaters for, though, isn’t actually entirely clear and seems to vary a bit. Right now, I’m seeing showtimes in my area and other major markets through at least Dec. 21. The film has also just opened in several markets, such as the UK, so if you’re reading this there, it’s likely you’ve got some time to see the movie still.

However, that’s not necessarily all of the story. The reception to Godzilla Minus One has been, frankly, astonishing. The movie has been one of the best-reviewed of the year and currently holds a 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes among critics. The title has also earned more than $58 million against a modest projected budget budget of $15 million. I can tell you that it’s one of my favorite movies of the year, and it finally made kaiju as a genre staple click for me.
All of that success has resulted in Toho extended Godzilla Minus One‘s theatrical runs on several occasions. So while I’m not seeing dates past Dec. 21, that’s likely more due to theater scheduling than the run actually ending, especially since the movie keeps setting records, resulting in expansions to its theatrical run. The official X account for the film has made clear that showings will continue as long as people keep watching.
When Will Godzilla Minus One Be on Streaming?
No information has been provided at the time of writing about when and where Godzilla Minus One will stream. If it follows the same timeline as other movies, Godzilla Minus One will probably be available to buy and rent on such platforms as Prime Video in early-to-mid January. However, at this time, none of that’s confirmed.
