Comedian and TV host Craig Ferguson will produce a TV series based on the popular Facebook page, I F-ing Love Science.
Set to premiere on Science Channel in the fourth quarter of 2014, I F-ing Love Science, produced by Craig Ferguson, will seek to capture the same popularity among TV viewers as it has among Facebook users. Ferguson, host of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, made the announcement via video Saturday at South by Southwest in Austin. The show will consist of 60-minute episodes that will attempt to probe a “grand, outlandish thesis” using science.
“If you know anything about me, you know I love science,” Ferguson said. “Science has a naughty secret – it’s that all things are connected. And this show is going to explore the randomness of science. Think of it as a late night Google search that goes a hundred pages deep until things get weird – and then you just keep going. And there is no better partner for this kind of smart entertainment like Science Channel and Elise.”
British biology student Elise Andrews created the ‘I F-ing Love Science’ Facebook page in March 2012. Featuring science-related photos, news, and cartoons, the page has since garnered more than 10 million likes. Prominently displayed in the Facebook page’s cover image is a quote by Isaac Asimov:
“The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not ‘eureka!’ but ‘that’s funny…'”
