Ikonei Island: An Earthlock Adventure is a single-player adventure from Snowcastle Games with toy-like visuals, puzzles, and crafting elements, and it’s coming to PC and consoles. This family-friendly indie game looks like a laid-back island experience from its first trailer, which shows a fantasy world populated by distinctive architecture and strange wildlife. Even the animations are brimming with life as characters trot through a variety of biomes to collect resources and build a town of their own.
First footage of the island romp makes it feel similar to titles such as Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, two of the game’s inspirations. The simple premise of Ikonei Island is that you wake up already on the titular island, “surrounded by curious creatures who are interested in your arrival.” These creatures in turn have a variety of abilities that will help you further explore the island.
Ikonei Island is a spinoff chapter in Snowcastle’s Earthlock series, which got its start with the original Earthlock in 2018. Where Ikonei Island looks to offer moments of peace and serenity, Earthlock focused on action and turn-based combat while still sporting that same art style. The Norway-based developer is also working on Earthlock 2, though that title has no release window.
Ikonei Island doesn’t have a release date yet either, but it will launch in PC early access before it comes to consoles. Stay tuned for more updates as development continues.
