We've launched a charity auction for a signed Xbox One on behalf of our former intern, Ana Kessel: http://t.co/gEpjL7Xc4P— Insomniac Games (@insomniacgames) January 10, 2014
Insomniac Games is auctioning off an Xbox One autographed by the studio to raise funds for injured artist and former Insomniac intern Ana Kessel.
Back in November 2013, Ana Kessel, an artist with Epic Games, was severely injured in a hit-and-run that wound up costing her a leg and a bundle in medical bills that she was going to have to pay out of pocket. Hoping to help collect money to help with the costs of her treatment, Epic auctioned off three autographed Lancer replicas. The money raised from that, in addition to the funds raised by a successful GoFundMe campaign, helped to take a decent bite out her bills.
That being the case, it didn’t cover everything and, in turn, other entities in the game industry are stepping in to try and help her drum up more cash. Most recently, Insomniac Games, which had previously worked with Kessel as an intern, has set up an eBay auction to sell off an Xbox One autographed by its staff.
The console, which was donated by Microsoft, will ship to anywhere in the world for free and will also come packaged with physical copies of Ryse: Son of Rome and Forza Motorsport 5. As of right now, the current high bid is only $810. The auction still has 9 days left to go though, so there’s a good chance we’ll see it climb quite a bit higher before it ends. Unfortunately, unless some generous bidder decides to dig really deep, the proceeds probably still won’t cover all of Kessel’s expenses. That said, every bit helps and we sincerely hope the final bid is substantial.
