Star Wars: Squadrons and Dead Space remake developer Motive Studio and publisher EA have announced that they are working with Marvel Games to create a single-player, third-person action-adventure Iron Man game. It’ll tell an original story that “taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.” The project is in the pre-production phase, so no official title or release window was shared, but the teaser image (above) does show that Motive has a new design for Marvel’s billionaire tech genius.
The single-player EA Motive Iron Man game is being led by Executive Producer Olivier Proulx, who worked on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and he’ll be joined by Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, JF Poirier, and other industry veterans.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” Proulx said. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”
EA and Marvel explained that the Iron Man game will be the first of “several new games” that arrive as a result of their partnership. Meanwhile, other Marvel titles are in the works at other companies, too. Marvel’s Spider-Man already made a name for itself on PlayStation consoles (and eventually PC) in 2018, with a full sequel from developer Insomniac Games on the way. Insomniac has a Wolverine game in the works as well, and Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media recently announced a AAA narrative-driven project that follows Captain America and Black Panther through an adventure set in World War II.
The future is bright for Marvel Games, so stay tuned for updates as we learn more.
