We’re about to experience what might be a very different film in theĀ Jurassic Park franchise as we inch closer to the much-delayed release of Jurassic World: Dominion. Over the past two years or so, as the movie has been delayed by COVID-19, there’s been a steady trickle of news and content, including a short film from director Colin Trevorrow. Now, Universal has released the entire prologue to Jurassic World: Dominion for us to watch.
The film picks up a bit after the conclusion of the last movie, in which a plethora of dinosaurs were released upon the world by a little girl who didn’t want them to feel sad. Now, humanity has to live with her decision and co-exist alongside dinosaurs who are roaming around. As this new world unfolds, it will be up to the original trilogy’s stars — Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum — to partner up with the new trilogy’s stars — Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt — to figure out how to live together with dinos.
However, the Jurassic World: Dominion prologue really only has a bit to do with all that. It’s actually more of a David Attenborough-style documentary piece of when dinosaurs roamed the earth 65 million years ago. We see absolutely stunning CGI animation as we quietly observe life and death for dinosaurs like we just flipped on Planet Earth. After a fight between two big dinos, a tiny mosquito drinks the blood of one — and we all know where it ends up. Flash forward a bit and a man in a helicopter is trying to hunt down what looks like a T-Rex as it charges through a parking lot.
Jurassic World: Dominion will release on June 10, 2022, but the prologue has fittingly come first.
