Electronic Arts will bring to the Xbox 360 platform its latest release in the vaunted Command & Conquer series: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars.
Set for a May 10 release date, the real-time strategy title centers on an insoluble struggle between the returning GDI and NOD factions, as well as a new alien faction. As with previous games in the series, conquest of a resource called tiberium remains the central focal point for combat.
While the real-time strategy genre has traditionally been the preserve of the PC and its mouse and keyboard interface, a scaled-down and less visually-impressive version of C&C and its Red Alert spinoff did make appearances on the PlayStation.
Although the announcement on the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars website offers little specific details on graphic or gameplay differences, the narrowed gap between latest-gen console and current PC graphics makes it reasonable to speculate there will be more parity on the two platforms this time around.
The website also reports that a downloadable demo will soon be available to Xbox 360 owners.
