Video games and Lego go together like peanut butter and jelly. Sets like the one based on Sonic Mania are pretty cool, as well as the sets based on Super Mario properties. Today, the Lego Group announced a colossal new product from the latter IP. Lego Super Mario The Mighty Bowser will be available for sale on October 1 and costs $269.99. You’ll be able to order him directly from Lego’s website when the date arrives.
Have a trailer for the mighty Koopa King:
Look at the size of that thing! Bowser can open his mouth and shoot out a fireball, too, just like in Super Mario 64. The articulation is amazing, with joints that make it look like Bowser can actually jump. And the fact you can stomp on him with the Lego Mario figure is a nice touch. The set takes a whopping 2,807 LEGO pieces to build.
Carl Merriam, senior designer on Lego Super Mario, says: “Adding LEGO Super Mario The Mighty Bowser really is a blast from the past for many adult fans of LEGO. He might be the big boss, but he still brings back a warm feeling of nostalgia to adult Super Mario fans worldwide.” Quite right. I love the giant turtle as much as I love beating him senseless as an Italian plumber.
