Disney+’s plan is coming into shape, and the idea appears to be to give us nonstop Marvel for as long as it possibly can. The streamer announced, after today’s Television Critics Association press tours, that Loki will receive a Disney+ release date of June 11, which means it will be starting shortly after The Falcon and The Winter Soldier concludes — which, in turn, is starting shortly after the currently running WandaVision ends. It’s clear the platform knows how its bread is buttered with Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) content, and it is even more valuable for Disney+ considering the uncertainty still surrounding theatrical film releases.

Loki will see Tom Hiddleston reprise the role of the god of mischief thanks to Avengers time travel shenanigans in Avengers: Endgame. The initial trailer for the series showed off what looks like an incredibly surreal and fun show, featuring Loki trapped in some strange limbo. Joining Hiddleston are Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. The series is being directed by Kate Herron with Michael Waldron acting as head writer.
This is not the end of the Disney+ Marvel content by a longshot. Scheduled to release this year are still What If…?, Ms. Marvel, and the long-awaited Hawkeye. What If…? is an animated series that takes a look at how the MCU could have played out if things went differently and is set for this summer, so it will probably be the next to land once Loki concludes. After those three shows drop, it’s anyone’s guess what will land next, though the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (yes, really) is probably landing sometime in December.
