Magic: The Gathering has announced a collaboration with Marvel that might result in its most heroic line of cards yet. The latest addition to Magic’s long list of major crossovers was announced today with a trailer that aims straight for the heartstrings.
The announcement video doesn’t pull any punches, as it shows a young superhero fan expressing their interest in Marvel comics in a variety of ways. Perhaps the most touching moment arrives as the child and his mom settle down to watch what is probably a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. As the kid gets up from the movie, they drop a card, but what’s on it, sadly, remains a mystery. Yeah, sadly, today’s Marvel and Magic: The Gathering crossover trailer doesn’t reveal exactly what will come of the collaboration. There’s also no release date, with the video simply promising that the set is “coming soon.”
You can probably expect to see a nice assortment of Marvel Magic cards when the collection eventually releases. That probably means collectibles based on your favorite heroes, like Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Panther, Thor, Wolverine, Iron Man, and more. No heroes (or villains) have actually been confirmed, but Magic company Wizards of the Coast typically goes all out when it comes to its collaboration projects. Considering today’s video teases that this particular crossover has been “years in the making,” card collectors can surely expect something really special. You can see the Marvel and Magic: The Gathering announcement trailer below.
Speaking of Magic collaborations, the card game company is currently in the process of rolling out a number of incredible crossovers with other famous franchises. Most recently, we got a good look at the upcoming Fallout collection, which is primed to release on March 8, 2024. After that, players can look forward to series based on properties like Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy. In the past, Magic: The Gathering players have enjoyed other collaboration sets, with the most important example maybe being The Lord of the Rings line that came out earlier this year. With Marvel set to continue the trend of incredible crossovers, there’s no telling where Magic will go next.
