Marc Ecko Forms New Game Division

Marc Ecko starts games division Mark Ecko Entertainment.

Marc Ecko, a fashion designer and the founder of Mark Ecko Enterprises, announced that he would be opening a games division with his company known as Marc Ecko Entertainment. This comes as no surprise following Marc Ecko’s first entrance into the game industry with Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, a game published last year by Atari.

Mike Lynch will serve as the studio’s head, and will be supported by Vice President of Creative Marc Fernandez and Executive Producer Shawn Rosen. Fernandez served as a creative director at Rockstar and founded Cashmere Games to develop and publish mobile games. Rosen spent ten years at Acclaim as Executive Producer of External Development and managed the popular Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX franchise.

Ecko explained his vision for the new venture. “Our goal is to expand creativity in videogames – we want to try brand new things. There are so many great ideas out there that either aren’t getting the attention they need or are being completely ignored. We will work with the visionaries of the medium and get these inventive titles in the hands of gamers.”

Lynch hinted at the division’s first project: “Since the launch of Marc’s first game, Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure, last year, we have begun cultivating new game concepts, funding interesting titles that were already in development, and keeping an eye out for progressive ideas. One of our initial projects is with a developer that was responsible for one of the biggest hits of 2006. We’ll be announcing details on this game very soon.”
