Arcades. What was once a thriving community is now part of a bygone era. Nowadays, you’re more likely to find the arcade experience at home. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is one example, featuring a few of the heroes’ coin-op titles. Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium is another, showcasing many of the publisher’s biggest hits. But what if you want the arcade aesthetic and feel? That’s what Arcade1Up is for. This company makes officially licensed cabinets for home use. And now, one of the biggest fighting games will be available to purchase in the near future: the Marvel vs Capcom 2 Arcade1Up arcade cabinet.
The cabinet was announced during Evo 2022 today:
This cabinet won’t just feature Marvel vs Capcom 2, mind you. Check out the full list of games on the machine below, with Wi-Fi play included:
- Marvel vs Capcom 2™
- Marvel vs Capcom™
- Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter™
- X-Men vs Street Fighter™
- Marvel Super Heroes™
- X-Men: Children of the ATOM™
- X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse™
- Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems™
Gamers will recall that, due to licensing issues, Marvel vs Capcom 2 hasn’t been available on a console since 2013. While this isn’t a console release, it’s the next best thing. Personally, I hope a physical and digital release won’t be far behind.
Interested players can preorder the Marvel vs Capcom 2 Arcade1Up arcade cabinet starting September 8. They can also sign up for notifications at the official website. There are no pricing details as of yet, but these cabinets typically go for up to $500.
