Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced that Marvel’s Avengers will come to the “next-gen” platforms PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S on March 18, along with the next story DLC called Operation: Future Imperfect, featuring Clint Barton as Hawkeye.
The next-gen versions of Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S will bring a variety of performance improvements such as higher frame rates and faster load times, as well as enhanced graphics and visuals. Players who have already purchased the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will receive the upgrade for free, and all existing save data from the previous generation will carry over.
As for Operation: Future Imperfect, Hawkeye warns the Avengers about a future threat called the Kree, a race that will eventually invade Earth. There are some new surprises as well, including an even older Clint Barton, presumably from the future, and also Maestro, an alternate history villain version of the Hulk.
While both Kate Bishop and Hawkeye use bow and arrow tactics, the latter differentiates himself by having intrinsic abilities that focus on single targets, whereas the former zipped around to take out multiple enemies. Hawkeye also has a sword himself, inspired from his days as Ronin.
Marvel’s Avengers is currently available on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The next-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Marvel’s Avengers aren’t too far off as they launch next month on March 18.
