Insomniac Games has finally given us a better look at Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and there are quite a few interesting changes. A video showcasing its 60 FPS Performance Mode and a blog post were both published today, detailing some of the enhancements and additions coming to the PlayStation 5 version of the game. See the smooth gameplay in the footage below. However, one stranger, unexpected change is the recasting of Peter Parker’s face. Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 used the likeness of actor John Bubniak, but Insomniac says it decided to switch to Ben Jordan this time around.
“We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console,” stated the blog post explanation. “He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.”
You can see a video of Peter Parker’s fresh new face below.
Insomniac Games is also promising to bring three new suits to Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and even showed one of them off – the Amazing Suit (below).
PlayStation 5 will enable Insomniac Games to take advantage of a number of next-gen benefits, such as near-instant loading (which can be toggled off), spatial 3D audio, and haptic feed and adaptive trigger support on the DualSense controller. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is also seeing a number of graphical enhancements. Past the obvious improvements to character models and general polishing, Insomniac’s updated version of the game brings ray-tracing and ambient shadows, too. The image below offers a look at how some of the visual changes will look on PlayStation 5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is also getting some photo mode enhancements that were developed for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, including the ability to place lights in the environment and the option to change suits without exiting photo mode.
Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 5 launches with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Launch Edition on Nov. 12.
