BioWare General Manager Casey Hudson has announced Mass Effect Legendary Edition for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The remaster will also be compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and include “targeted enhancements” for the next-generation consoles. This also essentially confirms that there is no Nintendo Switch version currently in development.

The remastered Mass Effect Trilogy will contain all of the single-player base and the DLC for the three games, including promotional weapons, armors, and packs. Mass Effect Legendary Edition has updated textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features, as well as higher frame rates and graphical fidelity.

“Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form,” explained Hudson.

The cover for Mass Effect Legendary Edition has been fully revealed too, showing fan favorite characters such as Garrus, Liara, Mordin, and Miranda. Commander Shepard’s side profile is presented with their helmet on rather than off, possibly referencing that Shepard can be played as either a male or female character.

VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb leaked the existence of this remaster back in May. Later down the road, additional hints popped up, with listings of the game appearing on a Portuguese retailer and the name Mass Effect Legendary Edition being rated in Korea.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is releasing in spring 2021.
