Masters of the Universe: Revelation Teaser Trailer Brings the Swole

Masters of the Universe: Revelation teaser trailer Netflix

Need a hero? Netflix has you covered, as it is bringing back one of the 1980s’ most beloved cartoons with Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and the streamer dropped the teaser trailer for the upcoming series from Kevin Smith as part of its Geeked Week. It is incredibly hype and also features a massively jacked He-Man. He’s got the power of chest day — that’s for sure.

The new series is actually a continuation of the ’80s cartoon, picking up after the events of it. Sometime in the past He-Man and Skeletor had a climactic battle that left Eternia fractured, and the Guardians of Grayskull scattered. Now, the Sword of Power has gone missing, and Teela is on a quest to reunite everyone and save the entire universe. We’ll discover if they have a chance over the course of the five-episode Part I, which will debut next month.

From the Masters of the Universe: Revelation teaser trailer, we can see that the animation has been updated a bit, and it’ll be leaning into plenty of anime tropes, including intense one-on-one battles with speed lines in the background. With Kevin Smith running the show, there’s sure to be plenty of nerdom and nostalgia gushing from it, but it’s also clear that this series is going to have more depth than the ’80s Saturday morning cartoon, which was basically built around selling toys. The voice cast is also a bit better known than the original and includes Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam / He-Man, and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela.

Along with the teaser trailer, Netflix also announced that the show will be followed by Revelations: The Masters of the Universe Revelation Aftershow. It will be hosted by Kevin Smith, showrunner and executive producer; Rob David, executive producer and Vice President, Content Creative, Mattel Television; and actress Tiffany Smith. Mark Hamill, Chris Wood, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lena Headey, Tiffany Smith, Henry Rollins, Griffin Newman, Jason Mewes, and Alan Oppenheimer will all appear.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 1 will debut on Netflix on July 23, 2021, but in the meantime, you can watch the teaser trailer a few more times.
