Surprise! Remedy Entertainment is working with Rockstar Games to create a remake of both Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The games will be available as a single package for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S. The package of remakes is currently only in its concept stage, so in other words, players’ return to Max Payne is still far away.
Remedy, the studio that originally developed both games, said this return to its roots has been a long time coming. Today’s announcement specified that the development budget is financed by Rockstar and falls in line with “a typical Remedy AAA-game production.”
“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same,” Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said. “We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said he was thrilled when Remedy first approached Rockstar with the idea of doing a remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2. It will probably be some time before more information on the Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remake is revealed, so keep checking in for more updates.
Back in December 2021, Remedy also announced Alan Wake 2.
