Tech giant Meta is officially increasing the price of the Meta Quest 2 by $100 starting next week. That goes for both storage options for the device, meaning the Meta Quest 2 128 GB model will go from $299.99 to $399.99, and the 256 GB model will increase in price from $399.99 to $499.99. Updated prices for Meta’s cordless VR headset will go into effect starting August 1, so if you’re interested in purchasing one, you only have a few days before you’ll have to spend the extra cash.
In order to continue investing in moving the VR industry forward for the long term, we are adjusting the price of Meta Quest 2 headsets to $399.99 (128GB) and $499.99 (256GB) starting on 8/1/22.

Alongside these changes, prices for Meta Quest 2 accessories and refurbished units will also increase. However, it’s not all bad news. From August 1 through December 31, 2022, all Meta Quest 2 purchases will include a copy of Beat Saber. New buyers only need to activate the device before January 31, 2023 by using an account that does not already have access to Beat Saber. It currently costs $29.99 to purchase Beat Saber on its own… but at least it’s something.
Meta explained that the decision to increase Meta Quest 2 prices will help it “continue to invest for the long term and keep driving the VR industry forward.” The company elaborated further: “At the same time, the costs to make and ship our products have been on the rise. By adjusting the price of Quest 2, we can continue to grow our investment in groundbreaking research and new product development that pushes the VR industry to new heights.”
Meta promises that it has an “ambitious VR hardware roadmap” ahead, including the launch of its next high-end headset, Project Cambria, later this year. Additional generations of Meta Quest will follow as the company continues to improve already available units.
“From hand tracking improvements and Air Link to Meta Horizon Home, we’re constantly adding new features to make VR more social, intuitive, and immersive than ever before,” Meta stated. “We’ll continue shipping exciting new software updates to improve our products on a regular basis.”
As a friendly reminder, Meta Quest 2 devices and accessories are currently available pre-price jump at retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Amazon.
