Delaware based Paltalk, a VoIP and video chat service, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Washington based Microsoft in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Demanding unspecified damages, Paltalk alleges in its complaint that, “Microsoft provides infringing online services to its subscribers in this district.” At issue is the use of a group messaging server for playing video games online and “maintaining consistency between the computers in the group.” Paltalk claims that Microsoft’s Xbox Live service illegally infringes on their copyrights for group messaging technology.
The Eastern District of Texas has been listed by the American Tort Reform Association as a judicial hellhole for its disproportionately favorable ruling in the favor of plaintiffs.
