Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One Trailer Has Tom Cruise Doing Crazy Things

The Mission: Impossible franchise has always been a moneymaker, but after the absolutely incredible Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the franchise has been reborn into one of the leading action series going. Tom Cruise and Paramount are following it up with something that looks even more action-packed if the first trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which dropped today, is any indication.

The trailer is landing a bit earlier than expected after it leaked online yesterday, but now we have it in full glorious HD with every nonexistent wrinkle on Cruise’s 59-year-old face there for us to not see. The new film is bringing back a host of characters, though we sadly won’t get to see Henry Cavill load his fists again. Cruise returns as uber-spy Ethan Hunt alongside Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson reprising their roles. New actors coming onboard include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Cary Elwes, and Esai Morales, who plays the film’s villain. We don’t know much about the plot, but given the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One trailer, Ethan Hunt will have to make a choice about what side he’s on and then he’ll need to drive a lot of vehicles really fast.

This, and the subsequent sequel, will be Cruise’s last turn in the franchise. He’s had creative control and since Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol has revived the franchise into something incredible. Christopher McQuarrie, who directed Fallout, is returning for both films, which were originally scheduled to be shot at the same time. COVID delays and other logistics made that impossible, so the eighth film is in production now.

Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One will release in theaters on July 14, 2023. Time to start binging all the previous films.
