Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer San Diego Studio have announced that MLB The Show 21 will launch on April 20, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. Additionally, the game will support cross-platform play between both console ecosystems.
What’s interesting about this latest entry is that it will be the very first to appear on Xbox consoles and will continue sporting the “PlayStation Studios” logo on the cover, even on the Xbox version. This year, the game’s cover features Fernando Tatis Jr. as its athlete.

Sony San Diego announced back in December 2019 that, starting as early as 2021, the MLB The Show franchise would expand from being a PlayStation platform exclusive to going multiplatform. Nintendo even retweeted the announcement, but there haven’t been any additional announcements regarding MLB The Show 21 coming to Nintendo Switch.
This isn’t the first time Sony has branched out and brought its own first-party games to other platforms. Horizon Zero Dawn was originally a PS4 exclusive that launched back in February 2017, but it then was released on PC last year in August.
Now that MLB the Show has gone multiplatform and has its first outing on Xbox, hopefully it will come to additional platforms in the future as well, including Nintendo and PC.
