More MCU Stars Join Life of Chuck, Mike Flanagan’s Next Stephen King Adaptation

The Stephen King adaptations never stop rolling and Mike Flanagan’s is basically horror’s rock star right now so it makes sense that he’s yet again attached to make a Stephen King adaptation. This time it’s The Life of Chuck, and the film, which began shooting recently, has pulled in three more major stars with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, and Jacob Tremblay.

That casting announcement comes from Deadline. The movie already had massive headliners attached to it with Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill already leading the cast, but the addition of three more A-listers turns this into a true event film and a bit of an MCU reunion with Hiddleston, Gillan, and Ejiofor all having Marvel roles at one time or another. If we really wanted to stretch the superhero point, both Hamill and Tremblay have done voice acting for superhero cartoons.

Life of Chuck, however, is not a superhero movie at all. Based on three connected short stories from King’s 2020 anthology book If It Bleeds, the film tales the tale of the titular chuck but backward. It starts with his death from a brain tumor at the young age of 39 and ends with his childhood in a haunted house. It’s party life drama and part horror story and all Stephen King, which is probably what enticed Flanagan to grab it.

Flanagan has quickly becomes the go-to director for King. He already helmed Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep, and currently has the rights to The Dark Tower. That’s not to mention that he created the smash horror hit of the season with Netflix’s Fall of the House of Usher.

Life of Chuck does not have a release date yet.
