MultiVersus Cinematic Trailer Has New Characters, Superman & Iron Giant Team-Up

multiversus open beta confirmed new characters superman iron giant taz velma

Warner Bros. and Player First Games’ Super Smash Bros.-like fighting game, MultiVersus, has received a cinematic trailer revealing new playable characters, like the Iron Giant, Velma from Scooby-Doo, and Taz. The “You’re with Me!” trailer serves mostly as an introduction for the new MultiVersus characters. However, its individual moments are just as important. Not only does Shaggy get to go full Super Saiyan, but the Iron Giant finally gets to have his long-awaited team-up with Superman. No matter how MultiVersus compares to Super Smash Bros., Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and other platform fighters, this trailer is worth the watch for the sheer goofiness.

MultiVersus was revealed last November. It will include plenty of familiar WB faces, though some are more serious fighters than others. Scooby-Doo characters, for example, will find themselves going up against Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings and Arya from Game of Thrones. More characters are likely to arrive before launch as well, and previous reporting had suggested that LeBron James’ Space Jam: A New Legacy character could even potentially arrive as DLC.

MultiVersus launches as a free-to-play title for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S sometime in 2022. A MultiVersus closed alpha is set to arrive May 19 and will conclude May 27. An open beta will then follow in July, but you can sign up for the closed beta on the game’s website.
