Need for Speed Unbound has a visual flair unlike anything the EA racing franchise has seen before, but you don’t have to see any of those extra effects if you don’t want to. Players will have the freedom to customize many things in the Criterion racing game, including those driving effects that have really popped in the footage we’ve seen thus far. With that, the Need for Speed Twitter account has confirmed that, yes, you can turn off the driving effects in Need for Speed Unbound. And not only can you turn off driving effects, but you don’t ever have to see them from the moment you start playing Need for Speed Unbound if you so choose.
Yes, you can turn the effects off. In fact, you can choose to never put them on in the first place. Just like any other part of a car

EA and Criterion revealed their updated take on the franchise just last week. Although it was a bit jarring to see cel-shaded characters, A$AP Rocky, and graffiti effects covering a series that usually sticks to a more grounded approach, fans seem to be taking the shift in direction well. Need for Speed Unbound already signals a promising reintroduction for a series that has long needed a change of pace, especially considering the developers are letting players customize their experiences to this degree.
Need for Speed Unbound launches for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S on December 2, 2022. Stay tuned for more updates as we speed toward that release date that is already close.
