The Battlefield series, EA’s counter to Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty, is alive and well. While Battlefield 2042 stumbled, EA is still committed to the franchise. The publisher is working with multiple studios to build a connected Battlefield universe. One of those studios, the Seattle-based Ridgeline Games, is working on a narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe. Ridgeline is led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, who is bringing his world-building skills to the Battlefield world.
Here is the announcement straight from the official Twitter account:
We're all in on the future of Battlefield! We're continuing to support #BF2042, and welcome our new studio, @RidgelineGames, who will be focusing on a narrative campaign.

There is more information to peruse on the official website, too. Ridgeline Games makes up one of the 20+ studios working under EA. Its goal is to build a diverse environment where everyone contributes to the game-making process. A good work-life balance is paramount as well, which is important to champion in this crunch-laden industry.
Vince Zampella, head of the Battlefield franchise, believes Ridgeline Games will be a great asset, stating, “We’re continuing to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing in new talent and perspectives.” When you have Halo‘s co-lead behind you, I can’t help but agree. I’m excited to see what Marcus and his team at Ridgeline have in store for Battlefield with their narrative campaign.
