Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have announced that a new Godzilla-Kong movie is coming to theaters on March 15, 2024, and Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is returning to do the sequel. Meanwhile, Dune: Part Two has received just a slight delay, from October 20, 2023 to November 17, 2023.
No story details or final title has been shared for the new Godzilla-Kong movie, but if the prior movie is any indication, the story will be an abysmal mess that exists strictly to set up fights between giant monsters (and/or robots). That formula worked out alright for Godzilla vs. Kong, which managed to generate $474 million at the global box office despite COVID and despite releasing simultaneously to HBO Max in the United States.
In addition to this new Godzilla-Kong movie, Apple TV+ is working on a live-action TV series set in the Monsterverse of the movies, which will involve the Monarch organization. The show will focus on a family discovering its own secret ties to Monarch, and it has so far cast Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. It remains to be seen how the new series and movie might connect.
As for Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve is returning as director, along with actors Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux are joining the cast.
