“Blackout” – an upcoming map for Halo 3, will be unveiled at an upcoming competitive gaming event.

The professional videogame league Major League Gaming is starting off its 2008 season with a number of exclusive treats, including the first public viewing of the upcoming Halo 3 map “Blackout.”

MLG Pro Players will duke it out among themselves on the map in exhibition matches and attendees will get their crack at it Saturday afternoon via gaming stations.

Playing on the map will be covered during MLG’s live web broadcast on Sunday, and ESP will get in on the action for a Saturday night web broadcast.

Also featured at the competition: Ubisoft’s newly released Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. $5,000 in prize money will be in the air for competitors of “lightening-round” three-minute competitions.

The event will take place at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in New Jersey and is free to attend.
