According to several sources, including Bespin Bulletin, a Star Wars insider, a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game is in development. However, Electronic Arts (EA) will reportedly not be the one creating it. The studio that is leading the development of the game is allegedly one that fans might not expect.
“Nobody’s going to guess right(–)that’s for sure,” stated Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier back in December of the project’s developer. This was prior to the revelation that Star Wars games outside of EA are in development. Yesterday, Escapist contributor Nate Najda of Wushu Studios corroborated the claims of a new Knights of the Old Republic but clarified, “It’s not as mysterious as you think. It’s just not a household name most people are aware of.”
Bespin Bulletin provided more claims, that there is a “bounty hunter” Star Wars game being developed but doesn’t know if it’s with EA or another studio like Ubisoft. He added that EA is reportedly working on another Star Wars game that is smaller in scale, as well as another unannounced game. However, Bulletin notes that he does not think it’s Star Wars Battlefront III.
Lucasfilm Games recently rebranded itself, and future Star Wars games will now launch under the Lucasfilm banner. Ubisoft Massive is making an open-world story-driven Star Wars game.
Reports of a new Knights of the Old Republic project of some kind have actually existed for a year now.
