We’re still not sure if Mass Effect 3 is going to be on display at E3, but EA has announced DLC for Mass Effect 2 and has put the game’s demo online.

Fans of Mass Effect 2, as well as those who’ve just been hoping to sample the game before committing to buying it, are in for some major treats this week. EA and Bioware have announced that not only is a demo of the game available on Xbox Live and PC, but some new DLC will be available for these platforms tomorrow.

The demo gives players the opportunity to play through a couple of solid missions. “Players step into the role of Commander Shepard and must escape from a Cerberus space station under siege. Players can jump ahead to a later mission where they must rescue Subject Zero, a hardened, dangerous criminal from a heavily guarded prison ship.”

While the missions may be good, the best part about the demo is that players can save their character after completing the demo and transfer him or her over to the main game, complete with experience points and story decisions in place.

The DLC, “Overlord”, will have players going up against a new enemy. According to Destructoid the premise is pretty simple, “Overlord will have Shepard and crew fighting against a ‘VI Overlord’ created by the failed fusion of human and AI.”

“Overlord” is set to include five new game areas and two new achievements. It will sell on Xbox Live for 560 Microsoft Points ($7) and on PC for 560 BioWare points.

At the present time, it’s rumored that Mass Effect 3 might be on display at EA’s show pavilion , though we’ll all have to wait and see if this turns out to be the case.
