During today’s Pokémon Presents 25th anniversary stream, The Pokémon Company revealed some new details big and small about New Pokémon Snap. While the Fluffruit isn’t new information, we’re shown how it can be used to catch a Pokémon’s attention when the player throws one at a Vaporeon, allowing the player to snap a quick photo of it.
The park area is also shown during nighttime, where the player plays a melody that can entertain Pokémon, as seen when Hoothoot enjoys the tune. These particular mechanics help create opportunities for interesting snapshots of Pokémon.
A new item called the Illumina Orb was shown off, which is something the Lental region’s Professor Mirror invented. Essentially, this item works best at night, and throwing one at a Pokémon will make it glow. The presentation showed Chimchar kicking up its red flames, but after being hit with an Illumina Orb, its flames changed color to a light blue hue.
Professor Lental will rate the photos you show him, so make sure to use all the tools at your disposal to create interesting ones! Lastly, you’ll also be able to edit the photos you’ve taken with stickers and frames to add some creativity to them. Players can also share their own photos and see other ones from players all across the world.
New Pokémon Snap is being developed by Bandai Namco and is scheduled to release on April 30 for Nintendo Switch.
