The launch of Gears of War 2 will not be preceded by a demo, Epic Games confirmed.
“[There are] no plans for a demo,” associate producer Tanya Jessen told Shacknews. “The reason being that it’s been such a fast turnaround. A two year production cycle, for a game of this caliber, is really short.”
The follow-up to the Xbox 360 hit is due out this November. Game conference attendees have seen the Unreal Engine enhanced, with more units onscreen, and the sequel is likely to continue with the third-person tactical touches that separated the original game from similar titles.
The first Gears of War, also demo-less, sold more than three million copies in ten weeks. A PC version was released in November 2007.
Jessen did not rule out the possibility that a demo may be released after the game launches.
